Did you get to see the solar eclipse last week?  In case you didn’t know, a solar eclipse is when the the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, and the Moon fully or partially blocks the Sun.  It was clearly a historical moment, but the only thing that I remember from that day was how people kept advising everyone else to wear proper eyewear before looking at the sun.  So thanks to the Moon, we all got to walk around in cool, special eye protection.

Here are some of my favorite shades that are not for solar eclipse viewing, but look good AF the other 364 days of the year:

I was never the cool kid in high school.  I was the one that hung out with the cool kids and threw big parties in my backyard.  It wasn’t until I went to college that I started to express myself more vividly in fashion.  I had all these great crazy clothes, and my sorority sisters would often times dig into my stash of goodies.  I suddenly became the go-to girl for fashion.  I was the girl with the cool clothes.  Now, as an adult, I strive to be individual, unique, and most importantly, me.  The coolest part about being you, is just being you.

This is an Alice & UO Apolline Jumpsuit.  I got this jumpsuit back in July of this year at the UO Surplus store in Sherman Oaks.  What I love about this jumpsuit is it’s simplistic and cool vibe.  It’s just baggy enough that I can move around easily, but not so baggy that it eats up my small frame.  I rolled up the bottom of the legs, not only because I’m short, but to give it an easy style look.  This jumpsuit is now sold out, but here are similar looks:

I got a butterfly tattoo on my left ankle when I was 15 years old because I thought it was a cool thing to do.  I don’t regret it.  However, I wonder if I still would have gotten the exact same tattoo if I was 25 years old vs. 15.  Did anyone else get a tattoo because you thought it was a cool thing to do?

Happy Hump Day everyone!  You may have already seen glimpses of this outfit on my Instagram (@kanthropologie), but now I’m actually going to blog about it because I love this rocker-chic look so much.  I feel like a hat can change the look of an outfit instantly, and for this outfit I think it made the look more cool and laid-back.

I got this Lovely Bird San Miguel Gold Concho Hat on final sale for $37 (orig. $129) at Revolve.  I absolutely love this hat because I have a small head and most hats swim on my head, but this one fits perfectly.  I can wear it tilted back (as pictured and styled) or lower on my head to give it a more western look.  I also like the gold concho detail on the hat, which gives it a unique flair without being ostentatious.  I also really like the Lovely Bird San Miguel Black Braided Concho Trim Hat in Smoke, which is also on sale at Revolve.

I am wearing Zara High-Waist Jeans in Black.  These jeans are very stretchy and very comfortable to wear.  I am wearing a size 2, and I like that they’re high-waisted because it elongates my legs and it holds in my belly when I choose to wear cropped shirts.  I love Zara denim because they are always high-quality and comfortable, but they charge only a fraction of the cost of other designer jeans.  Here are some other Zara denim that I like:

This ‘The Kills’ graphic tee that I’m wearing is from Uniqlo.  I bought it almost ten years ago from their store in Shanghai, China.  It was a regular t-shirt, but I decided to recycle the tee and make it sexier by  using a pair of scissors and cutting out the neck.  It now has an off-the-should look with a wide neck.  I then cut off the bottom to make it at waist length.  I’m sure you have several cool t-shirt that’s been sitting in your closet for years and haven’t been touched.  Pull them out, cut them up, and recycle them.  It’ll save you money on buying another t-shirt that will eventually end up sitting in your closet.hatattack_details

Wearing leopard print can be tricky if you over do it.  They’re a super fun print to wear, but can look trashy really quick.  If you decide to go with a bold print like the leopard print, keep everything else muted.  Too many loud prints and patterns can overwhelm the outfit.  Not saying don’t ever mix print and pattern, but there’s a time and place for everything.  For basic streetwear, I would stick to the golden rule of only one loud print item per outfit.  I am wearing a pair of Barneys New York leopard print pony-hair ankle boots that I got from Barneys Warehouse.  These are now sold out, but here are similar looks:

Did y’all like this rocker-chic look?  Love to get some feedback!  Thanks!

If you live in Los Angeles, it’s more acceptable to get away with casual fashion choices than say New York, London, Paris or any other fashion capitals of the world.  We’re a bit more rebellious because of our year-round summer weather.  Sure we may get 20 days or so of “bad” weather, but the clear blue skies and 80 degree temperature always come back.

With that said, denim shorts are a staple in my wardrobe.  I have about 30+ pairs in varying styles, colors and lengths.  My current fav is the Harley Bandits by One Teaspoon.  I got them during One Teaspoon‘s Northern Hemisphere Sale last month (read SALES) for under $50.  They run a little big on me and I got a size 24, but they’re meant to be worn slouchy and off-the-hips.

I’m wearing my denim shorts with a silk tie-front blouse that I had custom-made while visiting Shanghai, China in January this year.  I love the juxtaposition of sophisticated and casual.  You’ll see this often in my fashion choices and outfits that I post.  Here are some blouses similar to the one I’m wearing:

Another detail that separates a ‘classy fashionista wearing denim shorts and heels’ from Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman: don’t let your butt cheeks hangout.  We’re not all video vixens dancing in a hip-hop music video, and in order to make this outfit streetwear appropriate, keep your apple bottoms covered.  I love that these Bandits are not cheeky.  They are short in the front, but have moderate coverage in the booty.

Do you have a favorite pair of One Teaspoon Bandits?  Email me or leave a comment. I always respond back! Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday everyone!  It’s going to be a busy weekend and I need an outfit that will transition well from day to night. Just because I put on a sexy black dress doesn’t mean I also have to put on super high heels.  Ladies, make it EASY on yourself.  Why not dress comfy, sexy and cool at the same time?

I just got this BB Dakota Kiana Dress in XS from Urban Outfitters for under $20.  It’s no longer available on UO, but you can still get it on sale from Revolve.  Here’s a similar look: Zara Strappy Dress, (currently in their Special Prices section).

I paired my LBD with these Vans Sk8-Hi California Reissue Sneaker that I purchased on sale last week for under $20 from UO, (read my previous post Urbanology about the sale and purchase).  Automatically, my body-contour dress just went from ‘night-club’ wear to ‘let’s just hangout at a bar’ wear.
