Happy 2018 everyone!  Hope your new year’s celebration was more eventful than mine.  Not to mislead you, it was great and with wonderful company, but my new year’s eve wasn’t full of dancing, raging and taking fun pictures until the wee hours of the night.  We pretty much called it quits after countdown, went home and fell asleep.  Haha!  It’s what happens when you get old.  I didn’t put much effort or time into planning NYE, and this got me thinking about what other stuff I’ve been slacking on…like my blog.

To be honest, I’m not that great of a blogger, and I find it hard for me to offer blogging tips when I don’t follow through myself.  It’s not so much my lack of passion as it is my lack of focus.  It was really hard for me to focus on KANGTHROPOLOGIE when I had to work 3 other part-time jobs.  However, that’s no longer an excuse, and now I want to concentrate on the things that I can do to become a better blogger (BBB).

I don’t read enough.  Period.  It’s not just the books I own, but I need to start reading more online news articles, blog posts, newsletters, etc..  There is so much information out there, and I’m missing it all by watching Netflix marathons.  I think the more I read other blogs of fashion and lifestyle bloggers similar to myself, the more I can figure out what works and what doesn’t.  Why are some blogs more successful than others?  Are there new topics that spark people’s interests?

If nothing else, reading other content will inspire me to create new content and come up with better ideas and topics.  By reading other blogger posts, this will also help me become a better engager, which leads me to the second thing I need to improve on…

I’m really bad at this.  REALLY BAD.  (Sigh).  It’s really important for me to engage not only with my readers, but with other bloggers and brands.  I have a blogger friend that’s really great at this.  I’m always at awe of her when she tells me so-and-so wrote about this on her blog, or sends me articles that I would find interesting.

It’s not hard.  It’s just a click away.  I need to be more proactive and reach out to other bloggers that I find interesting or have similar aesthetics.  People respond better when they know that you have an interest in what they have to say.  It’s a two-way street and it’s always good to support your fellow bloggers.

My best collaborations and content have been those that were well planned.  The idea, the concept, the mood have all been laid out before the execution, and the images that come about are some that I will remember and treasure forever.  Obviously, I’m not referring to OOTDs but the trips and seasonal campaigns.  I would like to plan out more trips in advance and come up with seasonal campaigns at least a month before execution.  Mood boards and media kits are very helpful when you’re reaching out to brands, and those take time to curate.  My goal is to put in more effort into all of my events, no matter how big or small.

These are the top 3 #BBB things I can improve on that I can think of off the top of my head.  I’d be more than grateful to hear your thoughts on how I can improve.  I want to put my best blogger foot forward this year, and your input would be much appreciated.  Thanks for being so patient with me the last 2 years.  Here’s to 2018!

White ankle boots.  They’re all the craze this season.  I want them.  You want them.  We all want them.  I wish I could say I came up with the trend two years ago, which was when I purchased these IRO boots you see me wearing in the pics, but I’m just following the white rabbit down the rabbit hole.

I like that the ankle boot style is what’s popular because white knee high boots can look very go-go dancer slash an extra parading around in an Austin Powers film.  Forever 21 made a fabulous faux leather boot this season, and it caught like a wild forest fire.  Needless to say, other brands caught on and now Sam Edelman and Jeffrey Campbell are also in the game.  Their prices are obviously higher than Forever 21, but I’m sure the fit and quality will compensate for the price difference.

Here are my favorite white ankle booties of the season:

Are there other fall trends this season that you’re in love with?  I’ll be showing off some crushed velvet and holiday wear soon.  Be sure to subscribe to my blog to get first notification of a new blog post, updated sales and sample sales.  Thanks for reading!

Happy Friday everyone!  Wow, it has been a good minute since I last did a blog post.  My bad!  I didn’t mean to neglect my blog, but I have been busy AF this past month.  First it was my birthday, then the trip to Tulum, Mexico, and now I’m headed to Shanghai, China tomorrow for another two weeks!

Enough of my excuses.  I wanted to write this post to 1) let y’all know that I’m alive and still here, 2) post these pretty pictures that are too good to be left on just my hard drive, and 3) talk about the juggling of four part-time jobs.  Yes, I said FOUR.  I’ve mentioned in the past that I’m an actress, but I’m also a social media consultant, a fashion/lifestyle blogger, AND a server at a WeHo restaurant.  I know it’s not as glamorous as it sounds now that I’ve bursted the bubble of a LA-blogger, but we all have to make ends meet.  And being a server helps me do just that…make ends meet.

So, while other bloggers who have day jobs get to go home and type up a blog post or grab a drink and chat it up at some new product launch event, I get to go from my day job(s) to my night job.  This makes social media engagements and dating quite hard because I have such little time to do everything that usually requires a full-time job dedication.

Here’s how I try to time manage my life so that I can make sure I still have the time to work on Kangthropologie and keep my sanity:

While most people would think weekends pertain to Saturdays and Sundays, my weekend starts on Sunday.  I make sure that I give myself at least two days per week to not do “work” work.  That means no consulting, no acting classes, no server shifts, nada.  (Disclaimer: obviously I make exceptions if it’s an audition or a shoot since that’s priority numero uno).  I make Sundays my date day and Mondays my photoshoot day.  Since I don’t shoot every week, the Mondays I have off are time spent watching Netflix, Kdrama and hanging out in my PJs all day.

It’s really hard to have fun and actually enjoy life when you’re too busy working all four jobs from day to night, which is why I have decided to scale back on my social media posts and engagements in order to give myself time to actually enjoy what I’m blogging about.

As I just mentioned, I recently went to Tulum and had the most incredible time!  (Blog post about my Tulum trip is coming up next).  We could have gone and just shot great content all day, but then we would have missed out on the beauty and fun there is to have there.  While I normally post once a day on Instagram, I decided that I didn’t want to be worrying about engagement and only posted every other day.  I’m not recommending this to any influencers out there who are taking this more seriously than I am; however, there’s only 24 hours in a day and I don’t have any assistance or interns for help, so something has got to give.  In this particular case, I decided to scale back on social media engagements and posts.

For those of you out there that already have a significant other, congrats.  Kiss your man/woman and thank them for sticking by your side.  For me, it’s really hard to date when you don’t even have time to call your own mother.  REALLY hard.  But I try to make time by making every hour count.  Sundays are our days to hangout, but if I’m out of town or have previous plans then we only have the few hours during the week that we can talk on the phone or meet up for a drink.  If your love life is a priority, then make sure you make time for it.

I know I say this too lightly and could offend a lot of bloggers, brands, and content creators out there that do this full-time, but, don’t take social media too seriously.  It’s a great creative outlet, and people can make some serious dough doing this well.  But know that this is all digital and stored up in cyberspace.  Your life should not be fully dependent on how many likes, followers and views you get.  Yes, work hard, build relationships with brands, and create beautiful, original content, but please make sure you stop and smell the flowers while you’re doing it.  Have a drink (or two) at that social media industry event, but be sure to meet some great people and don’t make it all about posting that perfect selfie.

I’ll be MIA again for the next couple of weeks due to internet restrictions in China, but I’ll be sure to sneak onto VPN here and there and post some fabulous pics.  My next post will be talking about what to really expect when you travel to Tulum, Mexico.  Have a great Memorial Weekend everyone!

In the nine years since I’ve moved to Los Angeles, I never thought I would ever have to pray for sunshine.  Ever.  This is ‘sunny LA’ for crying out loud, but there has been an influx of rain on the weekends for the past month.  Rain storms usually like to come in right around Friday and stick around until Monday or Tuesday the following week.

It has been a hellish blogger month.  I’ve had to shoot in between rain, in the rain, in the gloomy gray and/or cancel the photoshoot altogether.  However, on this one special Saturday, the sun decided to peek it’s little head out for just a brief moment.  This brief moment was all I needed to twirl, smile, and put on my new pretty Restricted Bedtime Oxfords in Whiskey.

I’ve recently partnered up with Restricted Shoes and you can take 25% off your purchase by using the promo code KANG25.  #YoureWelcome.

There’s been some pretty epic cotton candy skies lately.  It’s inspired me to wear something fun and colorful.  So, when I found this frilly cute sweater in a small boutique during my trip to Taiwan, I knew I had to buy it.

What’s funny about this purchase is that this particular store didn’t allow you to try on any of their tops.  You could only try on bottoms and shoes.  WTF.  Thank the baby jesus this top fit because Taiwan sizing can be tricky since everyone there is much skinnier and tinier than, well, everyone.

This look has a western vibe that I dig since I’m from Texas.  Unfortunately, the top and the bottom were both purchased from that small boutique in Taiwan, and I can’t seem to locate it online.  But, here are some other cute cotton candy colored tops that I found that are adorable as well!

I’ve had my ups and downs with blogging.  Usually, I’m pretty dedicated.  However, I started dating someone recently and it’s taken me away from the time I had previously spent meticulously planning my outfits, scheduling photoshoots, engaging with my Instagram family, and meeting up with my fashionable friends so that we may take beautifully placed photos of our food and beverages, (rosé of course).  I admit.  I had strayed.

Fortunately, an angel appeared and I received a message from a photographer and fellow Instagramer, Mire Yang of StripesCollide that she would like to grab coffee and even collaborate.  I immediately jumped at the opportunity because I realize we both have the same aesthetics.  I think it’s important as a blogger to find a photographer that’s able to capture your essence.  Keep what makes you YOU, so that you don’t lose your voice and taste amongst all the other fashion/lifestyle bloggers out there.

Mire and I both love contrast, and she understands that my images are outfit based versus lifestyle.  Agreeing upon what your aesthetics are is very important when finding/working with a new photographer.  Take the time to sit down and chat over what you like, and bring images of what you think is achievable, (Mire suggested I download the app ListaPost).

We ended up having a great time chatting over coffee, shooting some really amazing photos, and even had lunch at one of my fav spots (Zinqué) afterwards.  I hope you enjoy the images and the outfit as much as I do!

Free People recently had a promotion with their app by applying an additional 25% off their sale items.  I found this gorgeous Flynn Skye Cleo Set in Pumpkin Seed on sale and just about died when it came in the mail.  It is puuuuuuurrrfect!  I love crops.  Check.  I love matching sets.  Check.  I love polka dots.  Check.  This outfit can be styled separately (as seen here), and I can wear it into pre-fall because of it’s autumn like color.

If you’ve been following me on Snapchat, you’d know that my current favorite store is Urban Outfitters.  They’re having awesome sales, and I’m lucking out left and right on my purchases there, (especially at the store off Melrose).  They have this sale section in the fitting room area upstairs where you can find sale items that are an additional 50% off the marked price.  Here’s a secret I’m going to reveal to you savvy shoppers: always check the price of their items online.  Most of the time the price at the store doesn’t reflect the sale price that is online.  Remember that fabulous suede bag from the recent post HOT AF?  Yeah, found it at the store, checked the price online, and then got it for an additional 50% off that sale price online.  #WINNING!

I decided to pair the shorts with the Kimchi Blue Goldie Floral Flutter-Sleeve Tee in Pink because that’s how it was displayed on the mannequin.  It was love at first sight.  The top is currently on sale online for less than $25!  If you purchase it at the store and it’s a different price, just show them the item online and they’ll match the price.

I just love the open back of this top.  It’s such a pretty top to wear for the summer.  I feel like I’m covered up still, but the top is breezy enough that I won’t get too hot.kangthropologie_UOonYou_IMG_2084

I fell in love with Sbicca shoes when I was in middle school.  They’re the most comfy shoes to wear…EVER, which is why I was elated when I found this pair of Sbicca Annabella on sale!  Talk about the perfect summer platform heels!  I love the fact that it’s black and tan so I can pair it with more colors and outfits.  They have these super cushioned soles that make walking on 5 inch heels feel like walking on clouds.  If you never tried a pair, go to your nearest Nordstrom and try it on.  So worth it!kangthropologie_UOonYou_IMG_2087

It has been HOT AF in Los Angeles the past two days due to a heat wave.  I do what I must when it gets this hot, and that’s to wear the bare minimum amount of clothing deemed necessary so I don’t get arrested for public indecent exposure.  Sounds crazy and exaggerated, but this heat is SEARING hot.

Luckily, I have recently partnered up with Wonderland Honolulu and got this amazing Harper Bodysuit in White/Black Stripe.  Can I just say that this bodysuit has the most sexy, deep open back…EVER.  What makes this top my ultimate favorite new bodysuit is that the shoulder straps are harness-style.  It has a neck hook and the suit is fitted in all the right places.  Need a bodysuit that wows?  Look no further.  I’m thinking about getting it in olive/black stripe as well!

Sorry for being super MIA last week.  Acting and work have been really busy, and I started dating someone so that has taken up the time I would normally shoot my outfits.  However, the perks of dating a great guy is that you can convince him to snap photos of you for your fashion blog.  Haha!  Do you ever have your partner/significant other take photos for you?  I’d love to hear some of your stories!

I think it’s fair to say that bloggers are now finding their blogs and other digital platforms more lucrative than ever before.  Companies are opting to allocate their budget in sponsorships and branding through bloggers than paid advertisement or commercials on television.  Their direct source of contact is now through us, the consumers.  These collaborations create many possibilities for fashion bloggers like me that love to create, but want to have full creative control over their digital content.

With that said, I’ve recently partnered up with Coach and will be working with them in the next few months.  This is my first collab and I’m very excited to be working with a company of this caliber and style.  I want to point out that this blog post is not part of the deal.  I’m not getting paid to blog about the accessories they’ve provided me.  I decided to do this on my own because I wanted to give an honest opinion on these products, which I’ve fallen in love with.  So enough of this essay report talk and let’s get to the fashion!

I am wearing a pair of Coach Drew Heels in Saddle.  Sliding into these slingback studded mules is like slipping my feet into butter.  The soles on the inside of these shoes are of great quality leather, and the suede coverage makes my feet smile.  I was not disappointed at all when I pulled these shoes out of the box.  I’ve been on and off again about purchasing a pair of clogs for my casual maxi skirts, but have held off because of financial priorities, (a girl’s gotta have her fancy coffee drinks…oh, and rent money).

I was very surprised by the aesthetics of the studs, grommets, and rivets on the heel.  Edgy, not what I expected from Coach, at all.  I always thought they were more conservative, but this new line and image is going to bring them back to the table for the younger generation of fashionistas that have sworn them off as lady-like has beens.

I first introduced this Coach Saddle Bag 23 in Glovetanned Leather in my previous post, (see GOOD FRIDAY), and I’m still using it as an everyday bag.  It fits all my needs as far as an everyday bag goes: high-quality material, discreet look, carries all my necessities.  This bag will only get better with age as the wear and tears settle in and it becomes an iconic vintage bag.  If you want a great Spring bag, I recommend getting it in the color Flax.  That mustard yellow is just screaming to be paired up with a white tee and mom jeans.

The elephant in the room is this amazing Reformed (The Reformation x Urban Renewal collab) Cutout Dress that I purchased almost four/five years ago.  Yeah, it’s been that long. The blue print on this dress is out of this world.  I knew I had to buy it the minute I saw it.  Reformation is so great at creating dresses with cutouts that are so sexy and feminine, but also have this “Little House On The Prairie” feel.  Here are some dresses with a similar look/feel:

Reformation Rhoda Dress

Kimchi Blue Lucy Printed Shirt Dress

Kimchi Blue Cornflower Cutout Mini Dress

Illesteva Porto Cervo Gold with Olive Lenses Sunglasses

Even though it’s become very common for fashion bloggers to work with fashion brands on projects, I’m curious to know how you feel about fashion bloggers disclosing their sponsorships?  Do you prefer it looking more like an advertisement or would you like more transparency?  Let me know!

Howdy y’all!  It’s already March!  WHAAAAT??!!  This year is flying by so quickly and spring season is in full gear here in SoCal.

I have been living in LA for seven years, but I still say “y’all”, I still wear cowboy boots, and I still love queso.  I think there’s a certain charm to a southern gal; however, that charm doesn’t always rub off in fashion.  I like my style to be a little mixed with both worlds: southern charm and SoCal sexy.  Call it a dixieland delight.  kangthropologie_dixielanddelight_IMG_8835 kangthropologie_dixielanddelight_outfit3 kangthropologie_dixielanddelight_IMG_8845 kangthropologie_dixielanddelight_IMG_8841

I am wearing the Free People Tea Length Seamless Slip in Ivory.  I originally purchased this on sale from Shopbop two summers ago to wear under a mesh maxi dress.  However, I noticed this slip was pretty by itself and can be worn alone.  Sure, it’s very body contouring, which makes it quite revealing, especially the light ivory color.  But I wear fitted white dresses in the summer all the time, and this dress is no different as long as you have to confidence to wear it.  Don’t be shy.  Life’s too short to not express yourself in any outlet you best see fit, and mine is definitely fashion.  Here’s a similar look that’s on sale, less bodycon, but still very sexy.kangthropologie_dixielanddelight_outfit4

These western-style kickass footwear are UO’s Urban Renewal Vintage Cowboy Boots.  They are old, beat up, worn in, and I LOVE them.  I wear them with cutoff shorts, cute spring dresses, or some high rise skinny jeans.  They go with just about everything, and add just the perfect amount of southern charm to any outfit.  Here is a very similar look.  kangthropologie_dixielanddelight_outfit kangthropologie_dixielanddelight_outfit2 kangthropologie_dixielanddelight_IMG_8843
