Happy Chinese New Year everyone! It’s the year of the fire monkey and I am excited to a brand new start!
My sister called me yesterday and told me this beautiful story about my 7-year old nephew riding his bike. He ended up crashing his bike into a mailbox, but what was amazing about it was WHY he crashed into the mailbox. He told her it was because he closed his eyes and breathed. …Yeah. Wow. Life. It’s suppose to be like that. A 7-year old had to teach me that you’re suppose to take in life, breath, and just be.
This new year has me thinking about who I am, what I am, and how old I am. Sure, I’m Chinese, so I look younger than my actual age. However, I noticed that I don’t really dress my age either. I feel young. Maybe it’s the LA bubble, but I think youth can be achieved physically, aesthetically, and mentally. My fashion gives me individuality, and if it means I look a few years or a decade younger, so be it. I’m just enjoying life, closing my eyes and breathing.
Nothing says youth like a good pair of overalls. I purchased these H&M Denim Shorts with Suspenders last year, and I always receive the best compliments when I wear these cute shorts out. I purchased two sizes up because they are suppose to be super cheeky. I just couldn’t see myself at my older age with my ass hanging out of my shorts. Not my thing. Not my look. If I’m wearing shorts on the bottom, I like to keep it tame on top. No need to be overtly sexy. Sometimes, the casual demure sweatshirt is more sexy than the in-your-face tops. I want to look young-er, not 17. With all that said, I’m wearing a J. Crew Classic Crewneck Sweatshirt in Marled Grey. It’s so comfy and perfect I wore it for three days straight.
