I do pride myself for having great skin. Not just for my age, but in general. And because of that, I get asked a lot about my skincare regimen, which actually changes from year to year since I’ve started blogging. I’ll find new products that I like and switch them out with other products that I currently use, but most of the time I just end up using them all intermittently throughout the year.
As a blogger, I have the privilege of trying out several skincare products for free, so I think it’s my duty to report back to my readers just what I actually like, what I use, and what I wouldn’t mind spending my own dime on.
I’ve tried several facial masks since last summer, and I mean SEVERAL, (see my BEAUTY highlight stories for reference). Most do the job, which is hydrate, brighten and whiten my skin. However, through all the trials, I’ve found a few that stood out from the others in terms of cost, effectiveness and convenience. Just so you know some of the facial masks were gifted from the brand, but a few I purchased myself. Regardless, I was not paid to recommend any of these masks. They are truly what I use and love, so, with that said, here are the five that I recommend you trying and why you should try it:

100% Pure Green Tea Water Bomb
I love the texture of this hydrogel facial mask. Usually facial masks are flimsy and hard to secure on my face. I like to be able to walk around while I wear my facial mask, and some slide off my face if I’m not laying down. The 100% Pure Green Tea Water Bomb facial mask has a sturdy, almost silicon-like texture that rests smoothly on my face while it hydrates it.
It comes in a large packaging where the mask is already laid out so you don’t have to unfold it to figure out which way is which on the mask. Another great convenience and added bonus for this mask.
Le Mieux Bio Cell Mask
I actually used this mask today, and was wearing it right before I typed up this blog post. What I like about the Le Mieux Bio Cell Mask is it’s cost to effectiveness ratio. It’s 1/2 to 1/3 of the cost of some of the more well known beauty brands, but it gets the job done right. The texture and feel of this mask is something I would expect to spend at least $15 per mask, but this can be found on Amazon for less than $27 for a 4 pack, which is around $6.73 per mask. This is a mask I would recommend using on the regular.
Dr’s Formula Smart Hydrating Mask
Found this gem of a facial mask while I was traveling in Shanghai last summer. Since Asia is at the forefront of innovative skincare products, I was on the prowl for beauty brands that were not known or readily available in the US. My cousin had recommended Dr’s Formula Smart Hydrating Mask as something that she’s tried and liked, so I got myself two boxes to bring home.
What I love about this mask is that it goes all the way down to your neck. Most facial masks neglect the neck area, (as we all do), but this mask has hooks on both sides so that it loops onto your ear to keep it set on your face and neck. You have to give it to the Asians for coming up with brilliant ideas like this.
SK-II Facial Treatment Mask
The SK-II Facial Treatment Mask is like the holy grail of facial masks. This JBeauty product is expensive AF, but so worth it for that monthly splurge on an at-home spa day. If you can afford this luxury, I HIGHLY recommend it. The SK-II Facial Treatment Essence is drenched and infused into this mask, and makes my skin feel like a new born baby. If you just came off a long flight, had an extremely rough week at work, or have money to burn, this is your savior for de-puffiness and brilliant skin.
I make sure to use up all the liquid in the bag by spreading it over my neck, arms and mask. I recommend putting it in the fridge for a few hours before use to really get the most out of your at-home spa treatment.
Shiseido White Lucent Power Brightening Mask
I recently used this mask on my Nighttime Skincare Routine – Weekend Edition video, (as seen below), and immediately fell in love with it. In terms of cost, this would be a step down from the SK-II Facial Treatment Mask. However, this still has the powerhouse JBeauty brand name behind it. I’ve been using Shiseido products on and off since I was a teenager, and it has never done me wrong. The White Lucent Power Brightening Mask does exactly what it says it does: whitens and brightens. The proof is in the pudding so watch this video to see it for yourself:
I like to do some kind of facial mask: mud, overnight, sheet or peel at least 3-4 times a week. It’s a lot of maintenance, but I think my skin shows the effort I put into it. This may not be a priority for you now, but once you implement it into your daily routine, it’s not that hard to keep up. You and your skin will thank me 5 years from now. Let me know if you end up trying any of these facial masks. I’d love to hear what you think of them.
