TAKING THE PLUNGE: IS IT TIME FOR FACIAL FILLERS?

With my birthday exactly one week away, and my age looming over me, this seems like the appropriate time to discuss what all women know to be inevitable with age.  I am talking about nasolabial folds, aka smile and laugh lines.  I was never against needles, but I always prided myself on never having had any fillers or Botox injections.  I like the idea of revealing my age and then saying that I rely on just great genes and a strict skincare routine.  However, my smile and laugh lines seem to get deeper and more prominent each year.  (Sigh).

I can run on a treadmill.  I can eat healthy.  I can pile on the sunblock.  But I can’t stop time, and I can’t get rid of my smile lines.  And to add insult to injury, the skinnier I want to become the more my face shrinks and the lines can only be smoothed out by FaceTune.  I can’t photoshop my face for the rest of my life, so this leads to the question: is it time for me to get facial fillers?

The choice to go through with this non-surgical procedure is mine to make, but my mom is 62 and she hasn’t taken the plunge.  I have all the fears that most facial filler virgins have, and my biggest worry is becoming addicted to injections and then taking it overboard.  I’ve seen the pictures of women who go awol on Botox and fillers, and those images are what have kept me from taking the plunge myself.  My other biggest worry is the upkeep and maintenance after I start.  This facial filler game is expensive, and I’m already getting my lash extensions filled every two weeks, (more to come on lash extensions).

I’ve been doing my research online, and there are a few doctors in the LA area that I would trust to perform the injections on my face.   I guess I would just have to actually go through with it to really give you an honest opinion on facial fillers.  So, I would like to now direct the question to you readers.  Have you had facial fillers and what is your honest opinion on getting it done?  If you don’t want to leave a comment below please feel free to email me directly at kangthropologie@gmail.com.  I would REALLY love to hear from you.  Thanks so much for reading and have a great week!

xo, Linda
