My family moved to the US when I was five years old for my dad’s work.  We lived in a small town right outside of Raleigh, NC, and let’s just say there wasn’t exactly an abundance of Asian-Americans that resided there.  Growing up in the south and then the mid-west has taught some great American values: individuality, independence, and the love of denim wear.  Nothing says American fashion more to me than a blue and white stripe dress and a vintage denim jacket.  Here’s to that American dream for this American girl.

I introduced this After Party Vintage Wanted Denim Jacket by Nasty Gal last year, (see MEOW), and I am still obsessed with this vintage Levi’s jacket.  Nasty Gal’s After Party takes vintage fabric and reworks them into new looks.  This jacket still carries all the signature Levi’s hardware and stitching, which makes it just that much more of a classic item to own.  This particular jacket is now sold out after being on massive sale, but here’s a very similar look.

Oh, this dress!  How I love a good striped dress!  It’s sad to say, but it took me almost three months to decide whether or not I was going to buy this Nili Lotan Jersey T-Shirt Dress in Blue, especially since it was also on a stupendous sale.  Let’s just say I ended up purchasing this dress for less than $20, AND, it was free shipping. (SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!)  I lucked out HUGE on this super cute dress.  It’s got the classic blue and white stripes, and the fit is just fitted enough to show some kind of form.

This is my very first Nili Lotan item, and I am a new fan.  I have been eyeing her designs since I first ran across a great leather bomber back in August of last year.  Her fashion line is quality, classic, all-american, which makes sense since she previously worked for Ralph Lauren and Nautica.  Here are some similar looks:
