EXTRA DRESSING: HOW I STYLED MY TOPSHOP SUMMER DRESSES

It’s funny when I hear people say that summer is about to come to an end.  Um, no.  Have you gone outside lately?  Um, no, because it’s too freakishly hot to be outside right now.  With this LA summer heatwave, I have succumbed myself to wearing the least amount of fabric as possible.  However, when I do have to look somewhat decent, I’m opting for dresses because it’s a one-piece wonder.  I don’t have to worry about what goes on top or bottom.  It automatically does it for me.

It worked in my favor this month cause I’m collaborating with Topshop to show off two of their current summer dresses.  I know, twist my arm why don’t ya?  Of course I’ll wear your beautiful dresses and show it off.  DUH.  So here are the two dresses I’ve picked and I’ll let you know just how I’ve decided to wear them and why.

My first look is easy.  I wanted a day to evening dress since I attend a lot of influencer events and don’t always have time to run home and change.  Yes, I can bring an extra outfit and change in the car, but it’s SO much easier if I just wore one thing that is one-look-fits-all.

With that said, this beautiful Floral Maxi Dress (under $100) has the print that says day, but a silhouette and slit that says night.  I paired it with some Chunky Sneakers (only $65), which are just so on trend right now.  This is LA, you can basically wear sneakers with anything and get away with it at any function, day or night.  It’s street style but with a touch of femininity, which is very me.

Oh, and if I had the time, for the night time look I would also take my topknot hairstyle down and give my hair a slight zhoosh.  There’s always something sexier about a look when the hair is down.

For this second dress I wanted something I can just throw on in this heat and not feel drenched in sweat. The Slip Dress is THE perfect solution.  It’s midi length so I can basically dress this down with sandals, dress it up with some wedges, or keep it cool with boots.

This dress is airy, it’s light, and it comes in PETITE!  Hallelujah!  I can’t express to you how much I value any brand that offers petite sizes.  I’m 5’4″, which is basically the cut off line for short stature.  However, my torso is long and my legs are short, so most dresses go way past my feet even with heels on.  Petite sizing just allows me to wear flats with my outfits, which is an option I love having.
