UPKEEP: MY IMAGE MAINTENANCE LIST

They say it takes a village to raise a child, but I say it also takes a village to maintain your appearance as a blogger.  As vain as it sounds, being in front of the camera for the majority of the day can make anyone’s sense of vanity peak.  I’m not about to say that the people I go to are THE best of THE BEST, especially in LA where there are beauticians, makeup artists, hair stylists, etc on every corner.  However, I love the people and stores I go to so I decided to put together my personal list of upkeeps and share with everyone…

HAIR

I get my haircut with Bryan Gaw at Mare Salon.  He just gets me and my hair.  I don’t color my hair so I don’t have a colorist…yet.  However, when I do decide to add some golden/copper highlights into my hair for some definition, (fingers crossed my agents don’t jump on me about it), then I’ll be sure to share that as well.

As for the other hair on my body, say bikini area, I go see Amanda Cummings at Greenleaf Waxing.  She’s located near my lash girl, so I try to schedule them close together: lash on, wax off.  She’s pretty flexible and available with last minute scheduling, which is always a huge plus when you gotta take care of business down there.

SKIN

I take really great care of my own skin at home, but there are times when I need a professional to get up in my pores and perform some heavy duty extractions.  I love going to see Ava at Heyday location in WeHo.  I do the 50 minute facial, which includes the extraction, and that is enough for my skin every other month.  HOWEVER, if you really want to pamper yourself and you’ve got a pretty penny to spend, then I recommend going to Kate Somerville and get yourself the DermalQuench Oxygen Treatment.  It’s 60 mins and you will come out feeling like a brand new baby.

Then there are ‘things’ on my face that all the best skincare products in the world can’t fix, and that’s when I go see Sari Hoban at Westside Aesthetics for my fillers and injectables [SEE DEFYING GRAVITY].

LASHES

I take my lashes VERRRRRRYYYYYY seriously.  VERY.  I go every two weeks for a touch up, and I basically schedule my life around my eyelash extensions.  Don’t think I’m kidding either.  So, it’s important to note that I’ve been going to see Paige at Daz Lashes for 3+ years, and over this timeframe I’ve sent so many people to see her and they all love her work.

NAILS

When it comes to manicures and pedicures, I’m the complete opposite as to the care and dedication that I have for my lashes.  But I’m not about to show up to my photoshoots with ganky nails, so I have put more thought and effort in keeping them ‘acceptable’.  I go to Fleur Nails for my gel mani and a regular pedi, (costs around $60-$65 for both services).  I’m very basic when it comes to my gel manicures.  I don’t do any crazy designs because of my commercial auditions, but, do ask for Kelly if you want really cool nail art.

Here’s my thing about this salon: there is a very strict and micro-managing owner that drives me bonkers each time I get my nails done.  The staff is AMAZING, and they all do a great job and are ever so sweet.  I keep going back there because it’s near where I live, so it’s convenient.  Plus, they’re able to schedule me in whenever I call.

BROWS

My brows have been tattooed (2x) and microbladed (3x).  Most of my experiences were in Asia, but my most recent microblading service was with Nikki based out of Anaheim.  Not quite sure if she still performs the services herself or if she only does training now, but feel free to reach out to her and check.

MASSAGE

I have a membership at The Now in WeHo, and I normally get The Now 50 mins.  I always request for Yuki to be my masseuse.  I’ve had other masseuse at this location, but Yuki is still the best for a full body massage.

WORKOUT

I workout 3-4 times a week.  I have ClassPass as well as a membership at Barry’s Bootcamp, but here are my favorite classes and instructors:

That is my current list of upkeeps.  In the future I’d like to add sunless tanning, hair colorist and cosmetic dentistry.  Thanks for reading and let me know if you do decide to check out any of these places and/or people.  I’m curious to know your ‘Yelp’ review.

xx, Linda
