I’m not sure about the rest of the country, but the weather in LA today was that of spring season: low 70s, barely there clouds, and zero breeze.  It’s freaking fabulous.  This is what I call the “in-between”, where the weather is brisk in the morning, warm during the day, and chilly at night.  We’re not quite spring, but definitely not freezing like winter.  That’s when I need outfits that are thin and light and can be layered on.

I’m wearing an Isabel Marant Etoile Grey/Navy Sheer Mini Dress that I got at Barney’s Warehouse about four years ago.  This dress is very form fitting, and VERY sheer.  I would recommend wearing undergarments that are meant to be seen, or maybe some pasties for that “I’m wearing nothing underneath” look.  I absolutely love this brand, and I love everything that she designs.  Here’s a similar look.  I’m also absolutely in love with this Etoile Isabel Marant Wilder Ruched Slub Jersey Mini Dress (on sale), which is perfect for this in-between weather.

I’ve previously wore this Forever21 Open-Front Duster Coat in Heather Grey in the post, TWO SHADES OF GREY.  This coat has come in handy over the winter as I was traveling to colder climates.  It became my perfect layering coat.  This coat is now sold out, but here are similar looks:

Forever 21 Contemporary Longline Open-Front Crepe Jacket (I would wear this with the Etoile Isabel Marant Wilder Ruched Slub Jersey Mini Dress that I mentioned above)

Forever 21 Longline Open-Front Jacket in Light Grey

SPLURGE: Topshop Handmade Wool Duster Coat by Boutique

Quay Australia Isabelle Cat-Eye Shades / ZARA Knitted Scarf (sold out | similar look) / Forever 21 Chunky Platform Sandals (sold out | similar look) / Urban Outfitters Marled Camp Sock in Charcoal

Do you like the socks with sandals look?  I think the look is perfect for this in-between weather.  Let me know if you have any questions, suggestions or comments!

It’s New Years Eve circa 1990s and my mother is throwing her annual holiday party at our house.  I remember being really young, sitting at the kids’ table, and thinking how I couldn’t wait to grow up.  I wanted to sit with the grown ups, drink their drinks, eat their food, and most importantly, wear their clothes.  Flash forward many years later and New Years Eve is still the one holiday every year that I feel the need to be super dressed up.  To be glam.  To be an adult.  To be a grown up.

I am wearing an IRO Anissa Beaded Lapel Blazer in White that I purchased from Intermix last year.  I am wearing a size FR 34 and I feel like the blazer fits true to size.  It’s suppose to sit loose and boxy on your frame.  I love the metallic beaded details on the lapels.  This might look like a simple white blazer, but it’s the details that glam up this simple jacket.  It’s linen and viscose blend, so the fabric is really light and airy, (something you want when your outerwear is part of your outfit).  It’s also available in black.  Here’s a similar look.

This dress is EVERYTHING.  I mean EVERYTHING.  It’s got cutouts, slits, see-through panels, deep v-neck, effortless flow, and blackout sexiness.  This eco-friendly Reformation Fiore Dress in Black was purchased last year on sale.  It’s currently not available, but you can put your name on the waitlist and they will notify you if they make more of this beautiful dress.  Here’s a couple similar looks:

Reformation Charlene Dress in Black (on sale)

Reformation Luna Dress in Black (on sale)

Reformation Naveen Dress in Sapphire (on sale | sold out in black)

The very first outfit I ever wore for this blog was by Reformation, (see EARTH FRIENDLY).  I just absolutely love this brand, what they stand for, and their gorgeous feminine silhouettes.  I highly recommend this sustainable brand and taking advantage of their sale that’s going on right now.  See SALES for more details.

Do you have a holiday or special event that you always dress up or get glammed up for?  Thanks for  following along!

You know that feeling when you wake up and you’re feeling great, your hair is just the right amount of messy, and your smile looks brighter than normal?  Right, me neither.  Which is why we need fashion therapy to help boost our moral every now and then.  Sometime you just need a dress that makes you feel alive, female,…pretty.

I went to the KeepSake Sample Sale in DTLA last week (see SALES for details) and found this pretty Keepsake Mirror Image Maxi Dress in an XS for only $10.  I’m telling y’all, Sample Sales are your best of best friends.  Sure they don’t have your size in everything that you love, but you’ll find that one or two diamond in the rough and walk out with the biggest smile on your face.

I still feel like the top of this dress is a bit too big, and will take it in to alterations to have it more fitted to my frame.  Keepsake is an Aussie brand, and I find that Aussie brands tend to run a little bigger than even American brands and especially European brands.  Here’s a similar look that’s on sale at UO.  pretty_IMG_7309

Remember this Armani Exchange Faux Shearling Bomber Jacket from FALL-ING?  It’s getting chilly in LA and this jacket is the perfect masculine piece to top off this feminine dress.  As you know, I love the juxtaposition of masculine/feminine or conservative/edgy.  It’s the ying and yang of fashion.

This jacket also provides just the right amount of warmth and coverage so that you don’t take away the flow of the dress.  Here’s a similar look.

I feel like I’ve been begging for cold weather in LA since early August, and now that we have it, I don’t want it.  Anyone else feeling this way?

Thanks for reading!  And as always, feel free to ask questions, leave a comment, or offer suggestions in the comments section below.  Happy Holidays!

It’s funny how I just blogged about how warm it is in Los Angeles, and the next day it’s windy, rainy and freezing.  I guess I jinxed it.  However, I still had a fabulous holiday dinner to attend this past Friday at Toca Madera in WeHo, and what would be more appropriate to wear to this dinner than something warm and fuzzy…and sexy.  fuzzy_IMG_7217 fuzzy_IMG_7211 fuzzy_IMG_7218 fuzzy_IMG_7215 fuzzy_IMG_7214

This is another of my #BlackFriday purchases from LuLu’s.  This is the Software Update Fuzzy Blush Pink Two-Piece Sweater Dress that I got on sale for $47.  It’s currently sold out, but there is a waitlist that you can get on when the item is restocked.

I purchased an XS and it fits my 5’4″ petite frame well.  I think it’s a bit snug on the top, but as long as I don’t wear a padded bra it fits just fine.  I specifically made sure to take a picture with my arms raised to show the length of this cropped top.  If you’re busty, I think your boobs may pop out underneath, so be careful curvy girls.

Other than fashion, cocktails can also make you feel warm and fuzzy.  What’s your favorite holiday cocktail?

One of my favorite fashion icons of all time has got to be Audrey Hepburn, especially her in the classic movie, Breakfast At Tiffany’s.  She is just so elegant and classy, and has such a great attitude and confidence about her fashion.  As an actress, I aspire to be a Hollywood starlet like her, and as a fashion blogger, I aspire to be as classy and fashionable as she was.  If you haven’t seen this movie, go rent it now!  Trust me, it’ll revolutionize your wardrobe.

This outfit is just an homage to Audrey and Breakfast At Tiffany’s.  I guess you can call it my modern take on her classy, sexy cover look, (minus the cigarette and cigarette holder).

This dress needs very little introduction or explanation.  It is an absolutely sexy and comfy dress to wear.  I got this LuLu’s Miles Per Hourglass Olive Green Bodycon Sweater Dress for $25 during their #BlackFriday sale.  It is now sold out, and I don’t blame them because it’s such a great purchase.  This is my first time purchasing from LuLu’s and I will absolutely purchase from them again!  There is currently a waitlist for this item, but I promise you they will restock this bad boy so get on that list!  Here is a similar look.breakfast_IMG_6729

It’s that time of the year again.  Holiday work parties.  You’re excited to get sloshed with your co-workers, (including Nancy who has been giving you the stank eye all year), but you’re dreading the idea of what you should wear.  There’s a big difference between dressing up for your friend’s Thanksmas party and your company’s soiree.  Depending on the location and dress code, your best choice is a dress with a nice silhouette.  You want to be conservative enough to get that promotion, but sexy enough that HR has to do a double take.workparty_IMG_6585 workparty_closeupworkparty_IMG_6582 workparty_IMG_6417 workparty_outfit

I am wearing a gorgeous, vintage DVF Tie-Neck Keyhole Wool Dress.  I got this dress a super long time ago when I was still working in the corporate world.  I purchased this dress on sale at Saks and knew that I was going keep it and wear it for as long as I could fit into it.  What I love about this dress is that the wool keeps me warm without having to wear a jacket that would hide the puffiness and detail of the shoulders.  The dress is suppose to hit right above the knee, but since I’m short it hits me right below the knee.  Technically, I should go get this altered, but the extra length gives me more wiggle room to sit and dance without flashing anyone.

The dress ties at the neck and has a big keyhole at the chest to show off my femininity.  This silhouette would be great for someone with curves because the neck-ties cover up just enough of the chest so that you’re not being too ostentatious with your girls, (hint hint, nudge nudge, wink wink).  The dress also has a gathered front that cinches at the waist to show off the curves that you have, or to give the illusion of curves that you don’t have.  Here are similar looks:

DVF China Short Wool Wrap Dress

DVF Emmie Gathered Wool-Jersey Dress (on sale at Net-A-Porter)

DVF Bevina Gathered Stretch-Jersey Dress (on sale at Net-A-Porter)

I’ve worn these Steve Madden Varcityy in Wine Suede heels on the post, LADY IN THE STREET, when I first purchased them at the end of October this year.  Since then, I’ve been breaking in these pumps and wearing it with almost everything I own.  The burgundy, the suede, the d’Orsay style are all the essentials of a great go-to fall shoe.  This style is currently on sale for less than $50 in Nude Suede at Nasty Gal so I would get them before they’re sold out. workparty_IMG_6589

I’m super excited about all the holiday parties because I’ll finally be able to wear the fabulous stuff that I’ve been hiding in my closet for the past year with nowhere to wear them to.  Does anyone else have this problem?

It’s officially holiday season time.  Store fronts are covered with snowflakes, lights and signs for pre-Black-Friday sales.  You just received your N-teenth invitation to another #friendsgiving holiday party.  What the eff do you wear so that you stand out in the crowd but not look like a lit-up Christmas tree?  Your savior is the go-to sweater dress.  It can be short, midi or maxi and you will still fit right into the party setting with a glass of wine in hand.holiday_IMG_6132holiday_IMG_6142holiday_IMG_6147

I’m wearing a Club Monaco Off-The-Shoulder Sweater in Ivory that I purchased two years ago.  Because I’m short, I’m able to wear this long sweater as a short dress.  I love how sexy it is even though I’m still covered up and warm.  This sweater can be worn as off-the-shoulder or as a cowl neck.  This versatility gives me options depending on how conservative I want to dress.  Here are similar looks:

ZAFUL Light Grey Off The Shoulder Sweater Dress

Club Monaco Fannah Sweater Dress

Nasty Gal Sonya Off-the-Shoulder Knit Dress

This pair of Quay Australia Invader Shades in Irridescent is exclusive to Nasty Gal.  I love how fun it is to wear, especially with this sweater dress outfit.  I needed something to give this classy look an edge and the sunglasses did just that.  Here’s a similar look that’s on sale.

And finally, the notorious pair of Forever21 Burgundy Modernist Platform Booties that are now sold out…(sigh).  But no worries ladies, here are similar looks:

Steve Madden Amandaa Platform Bootie in Burgundy Leather (on sale at Nordstrom)

Pedro Garcia Red Ankle Boots (on sale at Lyst)

Jessica Simpson Adaway Platform Bootie in Vampire Red Suede (on sale at Nordstrom)

I hope everyone stays safe this Thanksgiving holiday.  Have fun, be merry, and eat lots of yummy food.  Don’t worry, that sweater dress will do a good job hiding that food-comatose-belly.  Would love to know what you have decided to wear to your Friendsgiving parties!

If I had to pick between wearing black or white, I’d pick grey.  I don’t think I can ever have enough grey.  There are so many shades of grey: heather, dark, light, etc..  I think grey gives off the feeling of ease and comfort.  It reminds me of sweats and loungewear, which is why I have put together this outfit.  It’s so easy and comfy to wear, but I don’t feel that it’s underdressed or too casual.  It’s a shopping outfit.  It’s a movie date outfit.  It’s a great outfit.

I’m wearing a Forever21 Open-Front Duster Coat in Heather Grey.  It’s under $40, and it just about goes with everything you can possibly wear this fall.  It’s in a sweatshirt, heavy knit material so it can transform anything you wear with it to casual wear.  Here’s a similar look.

This is a LnA Grey Maxi Dress that I got from SHOPBOP like five years ago on super ridiculous sale.  I think it was around $30+.  I have been following this clothing line for a while, and I love how it has stayed true to it’s original core: casual, soft and comfy clothing.  They have branched out to leather and active wear, but they are one of my go-tos when it comes to a perfect cotton tee.  Here are similar looks:

LNA T-Shirt Maxi Dress in Vintage Black (at Planet Blue)

ZARA Long Dress in Grey Marl

Forever21 Contemporary Layered Stretchy Marled Dress

Grey can be the easiest color to wear, (except when working out).  Casual and ease doesn’t mean lazy though. It means you can be fashionable and comfortable at the same time, so take advantage of that grey!

Like this comfy chic outfit?  Do you have a preference of black or white?  Let me know!  Thanks for reading and happy hump day!

SO, I’m going to start off by first saying that everything in this outfit is no longer available.  (Silence.  Someone coughs.)  You’re now wondering why in the freaking world would a fashion blogger blog about an outfit that is no longer available AND name her post LAST CALL?!  Before you get your panties all in a wad, let me explain and tell the story of the last call items that you see before you.

What we have here ladies are fashionable items that I purchased on last call clearance because they were already past their season, the last size of that item and/or the very last one of that item.  I’m not sure why it’s such a taboo to wear things from previous seasons when staple items like a LBD, long black coat, and grey platform boots are always on trend fall after fall and winter after winter.  Does this outfit look fabulous? Yes.  Does this outfit fit the season?  Yes.  Did this outfit cost me a mere fraction of what I would have spent if I purchased it as soon as it was released? YES!  So start shopping smart!

I am wearing a J. Crew Long Wool Coat with Nautical Buttons.  I got this coat almost a decade ago, and I still remember buying it for $40.  YUP, four-zero dollars.  If you have EVER shopped at J. Crew, you would know that most of their outerwear start at $150 retail price.

So how in the world did I purchase mine for such a ridiculously low price?  By purchasing it in January and waiting for the sale on sale event, which always happens because they’re trying to offload their winter inventory.  I’m an impulse shopper so I can completely understand and sympathize with the shopaholics that are screaming what if they run out of my size or what if they sell out?!  My response is: it happens.  (Silence.  Someone coughs.)  But is it really the end of the world?  Instead you end up finding other stylish items that you didn’t notice before AND that are on super sale.

Here are some similar looks:

GUESS Funnel-Collar Asymmetrical Coat (on sale at Macy’s)

Vince Camuto A-Line Military Walker Coat (on sale at Macy’s)

Rachel Roy Double-Breasted Military Maxi Coat (on sale at Macy’s)

This is a Theyskens’ Theory Kumila Dress that I purchased from Barneys New York about three years ago for 1/3 of it’s original price.  Once again, I purchased it around January/February when all the winter items are purged from the stores.  This beautiful silk knit dress can also be worn into spring because it’s light-weight and very breathable.

Here are similar looks:

Theory Karlyn Dress

Tommy Hilfiger Cowl-Neck Cable-Knit Sweater Dress (on sale at Macy’s)

Marc New York by Andrew Marc Metallic Cable Knit Sweater Dress

Versus Long Sleeve Knit Dress

Acne Studios Jamal L Ribbed Sweater Dress

And lastly, these fabulous Dolce Vita Suede Block-Heel Knee-High Boots in Grey that I got from Free People for under $100 a few years ago.  This was the steal of a lifetime.  I’m sure it was probably a return, but it was the last pair they had in stock and it just happen so to be my size.  It was a purchase sent from above.  They are very comfortable to wear, but the zippers in the back can get a bit rusty if not worn or used in a while.  I just recommend wearing them often so you don’t run into this issue.

Here are similar looks:

Autumn Elegant Stage Lace Up Knee High Knight Block Boots

Dune London Skyler Suede High Heel Knee High Boot

Steve Madden Gorgeous Boots in Grey

This whole outfit may have only costed me $250, and that includes wool outerwear, silk knit dress, and a pair of suede platform boots from very reputable and quality brands.  Is this a last call steal or what?  Thank y’all for reading, and as always, please feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions, suggestions, or feedback!

One of the best things in life is playing in the nude.  Remember when you were young and carefree and clothes wasn’t necessary?  Well, as adults, it would be illegal to parade around in the buff, but it doesn’t mean we have to neglect the nudes when it comes to fashion.  inthenudes_IMG_5721inthenudes_bundledup

This knit sweater is one of my prize possessions, and I scored this Stella McCartney Oversized Chunky Knit Zip Cardigan from the bi-annual Barney’s Warehouse Sale that use to occur every year in the LA Convention Center until August 2012 when they decided to move the sale online.  It was indeed a very sad summer.  However, I was elated that I still got my one last victory purchase.

I have a rule, and this fashion rule is unfortunately unbreakable.  If I try on something at a store and two complete strangers walk up to me and compliment me within a 10 minute time frame on that item, then I must purchase the item (regardless of the cost).  My wallet hates this rule, but I stand by it and it has yet to fail me in my fashion quests.  This $600 sweater was purchased because of that rule and I never regretted it because it was originally $2000+.  I don’t expect you to go break your bank on a chunky knit, but a quality one is always worth the investment.  Here are some similar styles:

ATM Anthony Thomas Melillo Chunky Cardigan (on sale at Barney’s Warehouse)

Rose Gal Stylish Cable-Knit Hooded Cardigan

Michael Kors Button-Front Textured Long Cardigan (on sale at Neiman Marcus)

Stella McCartney Chunky Knit Wool-Blend Cardigan

inthenudes_IMG_5780Underneath the super warm sweater cardigan is Urban Outfitters Out From Under Ribbed V-Neck Midi Slip in Taupe.  This dress is now an online exclusive, but I purchased mine from the Los Angeles Melrose store when they offered it in the color Taupe and Black.  I feel like Out From Under runs a bit small so I got a size Small in this dress.  It is  VERY fitted, but I love the simplicity and sexiness of this dress.  I may just have to purchase it in black as well.

Fall fashion can be sexy as well, as long as you know how to bundle up without compromising on your style.  Neutrals and nudes are a great way to pretend like you’re showing skin without having to freeze while showing skin.

Did anyone else ever shop at the Barney’s Warehouse Sale in Los Angeles?  If so, love to hear what you got from there that you still wear to this day.
